The Little Shepherds At The Gatehouse

Welcome to The Little Shepherds at The Gatehouse: Nurturing Young Minds in Otford

The Little Shepherds at The Gatehouse proudly stands as a cornerstone of early childhood education in Otford, having made a successful move to this charming village in September 2017. Our location, in the heart of Otford, not only positions us as one of the key feeder preschools for Otford Primary but also integrates us fully into the vibrant community life, enriching our preschool experience with a strong local vibe.

A Preschool with a Heart for Community and Nature

Our preschool is perfectly situated next to Otford Village Park, allowing us to blend education with the beauty and tranquility of nature. Utilizing the park at least three times a week, we incorporate forest school principles into our curriculum through weekly excursions. These outings not only enrich our children’s learning experiences but also foster a deep appreciation for the natural world from a young age.

In addition to our nature explorations, every Tuesday is a special day for us as we visit the local library for story time. This regular activity not only supports literacy development but also strengthens our connection with the community, providing our children with a sense of belonging and an opportunity to explore the world of books in a supportive environment.

Physical Development and Thematic Learning

Recognising the importance of physical development in early childhood, we collaborate with an outside Multisports agency every Monday. This partnership ensures our children engage in physical activities that are both fun and beneficial, contributing to their overall growth and development.

Our curriculum is thoughtfully designed around termly themes that encompass all aspects of the Early Years Framework. This thematic approach ensures a holistic educational experience, covering a wide range of learning areas and stimulating the children’s curiosity and engagement.

A Place for Wellbeing and Growth

The Little Shepherds at The Gatehouse is dedicated to the wellbeing of every child. Our preschool features a quiet reading corner, where children can immerse themselves in the world of stories and enjoy moments of relaxation. Additionally, we have a separate room for snacks and lunches, ensuring that meal times are calm, enjoyable, and social experiences for all.

Our commitment to nurturing every aspect of a child’s development, from academic learning to physical growth and emotional wellbeing, sets us apart. At The Little Shepherds at The Gatehouse, we strive to provide a warm, welcoming, and stimulating environment where every child can thrive, learn, and grow.

Join us in Otford and experience a preschool that is as unique as your child, where community, nature, and learning come together to create the perfect start in life.
